RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA February 28, 2026 – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued a sharp condemnation of what it described as “blatant Iranian aggression” following reported Iranian missile strikes that targeted multiple Gulf Arab states and Jordan on Saturday.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and posted on its English-language X account (@KSAmofaEN), Saudi Arabia denounced the attacks as a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty” of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces in strongest terms the blatant Iranian aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” the statement read.
It continued: “The Kingdom affirms its full solidarity with and unwavering support for the brotherly countries, and its readiness to place all its capabilities at their disposal in support of any measures they may undertake. It also warns of the grave consequences resulting from the continued violation of states’ sovereignty and the principles of international law.”
The Ministry further called on the international community to condemn the attacks and take firm measures to confront Iranian actions that undermine regional security and stability.
The Saudi statement comes hours after Iran launched retaliatory missile barrages, reportedly targeting U.S. military installations in the Gulf region — including the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — as well as sites in the UAE, Kuwait and Jordan. The strikes follow earlier joint U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iranian targets on the same day.
Several affected countries reported activating air defenses and intercepting incoming projectiles, with at least one reported fatality in Abu Dhabi from falling debris.
Saudi Arabia, which hosts significant U.S. military assets but was not reported to have been directly targeted in this wave of strikes, positioned itself firmly alongside its Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) partners and Jordan.
Analysts view the statement as a clear signal of Gulf Arab unity in the face of escalating regional tensions, while underscoring Riyadh’s longstanding policy of defending Arab sovereignty against external threats.
