KAJANG, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA February 16, 2026 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has successfully dismantled an illegal storage operation involving liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Kajang.
According to Director General of Enforcement at KPDN, Datuk Azman Adam, on February 9, 2026, the KPDN’s Enforcement Division from Putrajaya conducted a raid on an unnamed premises based on intelligence gathered by enforcement officers. The premises, which was fenced with zinc sheets and found locked upon arrival, was forcibly accessed for further inspection.
During the operation, officers discovered two local individuals—a man and a woman—acting as a lorry driver and a car driver, respectively. A Daihatsu lorry at the site was carrying 110 cylinders of 14kg BHP-brand LPG. Additionally, another 80 cylinders of 14kg LPG and some 50kg cylinders were found on the premises’ platform area.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the LPG supply originated from a company in Bandar Rinching, Semenyih. However, checks confirmed that the Kajang premises held no valid licence to store or conduct business in controlled goods.
As a result, KPDN seized all the LPG cylinders along with the lorry involved. The total estimated value of the confiscated items stands at RM83,116.00.” said Azman.
For further investigation, an order under Section 8 of the Supply Control Act 1961 [Act 122] was issued, requiring the submission of relevant documents and a declaration of controlled goods stock. The case is being probed under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961 [Act 122], read together with Regulation 3(1) of the Supply Control Regulations 1974, for possessing controlled goods with intent to commit an offence and carrying out scheduled goods trade without a valid licence from the Controller of Supplies.
KPDN emphasized that strict action will be taken against any parties violating the regulations. Upon conviction, individuals face a fine of up to RM1,000,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years, while companies may be fined up to RM2,000,000 for a first offence.
The public is urged to report any suspected misuse or diversion of controlled subsidized goods through official channels to help fully curb subsidy leakages:
