KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA February 12, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted Malaysia’s strength in multicultural unity while addressing the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) Chinese New Year Reception 2026.
Anwar shared key moments from the event on his official X account, noting that the nation stands firm on the spirit of loyalty and friendship cultivated across racial, religious, cultural, and regional diversity.
He emphasised that harmony and unity must never be taken lightly, calling for swift and decisive handling of any issues touching on societal sensitivities to prevent escalation into broader tensions.
In a multiracial society, differences of opinion are natural, Anwar said, but they cannot justify actions that breach the law. He warned that any attempts to undermine national stability would not be tolerated.
Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister reminded attendees: “Stability, peace, and unity are the pillars of Malaysia’s strength, and it is our shared responsibility to defend them.”
The festive gathering included the traditional yee sang (prosperity toss), a symbolic ritual for good fortune in the new year.
Anwar actively joined guests in the lively toss, reflecting the spirit of togetherness.
As keynote speaker (ucaptama), he delivered his address against a vibrant backdrop celebrating the occasion.
The event underscored the Malaysia MADANI vision of inclusive progress and mutual respect.
