MALAYSIA, KUALALUMPUR, June 20, 2025 – Dato’ Sri Hj Mohd Khalid Bin Hj Ismail has been appointed as Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), effective June 23, 2025, for a two-year term until June 22, 2027. The appointment, approved by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong under Articles 140(4) and (5) of the Federal Constitution, follows the advice of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Police Force Commission.

Dato’ Sri Hj Mohd Khalid, 60, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Born in Manong, Perak, he holds a Master’s Degree in Comparative Laws from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Joining the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in 1987, he has served in intelligence and security roles, including as Deputy Director of the Special Branch, Security Liaison Officer in London, and Director of the Special Branch since April 2023. After his mandatory retirement in April 2025, he continued leading the Special Branch on a contract basis.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail praised Dato’ Sri Hj Mohd Khalid’s extensive policing expertise and leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to steer PDRM forward. The MADANI Government also extended its gratitude to outgoing IGP Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain for his dedicated service since June 2023.
