MALAYSIA, PUTRAJAYA, June 18, 2025 – The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is empowering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors with artificial intelligence (AI) skills through the Microsoft AI For My Future programme, held at Menara KBS from June 17 to 18, 2025.

Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh, attended the event, which saw 147 instructors from six Youth and Sports Skills Training Institutes (ILKBS)—IKTBN Bachok, IKTBN Temerloh, IKBN Pekan, IKBN Tanah Merah, IKBN Kemasik, and IKBN Wakaf Tapai—participate in hybrid training sessions. The programme, a collaboration with Biji-biji Initiative and Mereka Academy, provided hands-on exposure to AI tools for developing lesson plans, quizzes, and teaching materials to enhance classroom efficiency.
To date, 287 ILKBS instructors have benefited from three training series, with KBS aiming to train at least 500 instructors nationwide by the end of 2025. This initiative reflects KBS’s commitment to equipping educators with cutting-edge digital skills, aligning with the Malaysia MADANI values of creativity and confidence to meet industry demands.
In her speech, Hannah urged greater collaboration between industry and government to advance the TVET sector, emphasizing that AI is no longer optional but essential in modern education.
“Malaysia needs technically skilled and tech-savvy educators to nurture a progressive, self-reliant generation that drives sustainable economic growth,” she said.
The event was attended by KBS Secretary-General, Dato’ Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, and Director of Skills, Puan Dalila binti Sharingat.
