LOS ANGELES January 16, 2026 – Netflix has officially released The Rip, a high-stakes action thriller directed by Joe Carnahan, now streaming worldwide.
The film reunites longtime friends and collaborators Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as Miami police partners whose loyalty is tested after discovering millions in cash in an abandoned stash house. Rising star Teyana Taylor joins them in a key role, alongside Steven Yeun, Sasha Calle, and Kyle Chandler.
The story centers on a team of cops whose discovery unravels trust within the group, leading to intense moral dilemmas and explosive confrontations.
To celebrate the launch, Netflix shared a hilarious promotional video featuring Damon, Affleck, and Taylor in a chaotic mock press conference.
Seated at a table surrounded by red buckets filled with fake cash labeled “EVIDENCE” and “CHAIN OF CUSTODY,” along with caution tape and props, the trio enthusiastically rips various items – from photos and paper bags to fake money and phone books – while bantering and reacting to the satisfying tears.
The skit plays on the movie’s title, with the actors exclaiming over “good rips” and joking about the sounds, creating a lighthearted contrast to the film’s tense plot.
Early reviews praise the chemistry between Damon and Affleck, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it a “gritty Netflix cop thriller” and The Guardian noting how the stars “tear through” the flashy narrative.
The Rip is now available exclusively on Netflix. Viewers can watch the full promotional skit on the platform’s social channels.
