WASHINGTON, D.C. January 14, 2026 – President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he has received information indicating the Iranian regime has stopped killings of anti-government protesters and has no plans for further executions.
Speaking to reporters during a White House bill-signing ceremony, Trump said: “We’ve been told that the killing in Iran is stopping… and there’s no plans for executions — an execution or executions. I’ve been told that on good authority. We’ll find out about it.”
The remarks came as Trump signed the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, legislation that reverses Obama-era restrictions and allows whole and 2% milk to be served in school lunch programs nationwide. The event highlighted support for American dairy farmers, with a jug of milk and a green cap emblazoned with pro-agriculture messaging placed prominently on the Resolute Desk.
Trump appeared animated while addressing the Iran question, gesturing as he spoke from behind the desk surrounded by administration officials and supporters.
The president’s comments follow days of intense unrest in Iran, where protests have reportedly resulted in over 2,500 deaths according to activists. Trump has previously warned Tehran against executing demonstrators, stating the U.S. would take “very strong action” if such measures proceeded, while encouraging Iranians to continue protesting and promising that “help is on the way.”
However, conflicting reports suggest Iranian officials continue to signal intentions for swift trials and potential executions of detained protesters.
The White House Rapid Response account shared a video clip of Trump’s Iran remarks, emphasizing the update on the halting of violence.
The whole milk legislation fulfills a long-standing priority for dairy producers and school nutrition advocates, who argue that offering fuller-fat options improves student health and supports U.S. agriculture. The signing drew praise from farming groups, aligning with Trump’s “Farmers First” agenda.
