My Father, Family Captain”: Fadillah Honors Fathers on Father’s Day 2025

MALAYSIA. Kuala Lumpur, 15 June 2025 – In conjunction with Father’s Day celebrated today, Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof extends his warmest wishes to all fathers, dads, abahs, babas, papas, walids, abis, appas, apaks, daddies, or any title used with love and respect.

Themed “My Father, the Captain of the Family,” this year’s celebration highlights the vital role of fathers as the cornerstone of the family. “A father is not only the head of the household but also a protector, guide, and role model in shaping the character and personality of their children,” said Fadillah in his statement.

He emphasized the importance of honoring fathers in the Islamic context, citing Surah Luqman, verse 14, which calls on children to do good and be grateful to their parents.

“This verse reminds us of the noble responsibility of children to respect and love both parents,” he added.

Fadillah also praised the unconditional sacrifices of fathers, who often give their all for their family’s happiness without expecting anything in return. He referenced a hadith narrated by Tirmizi:

“The pleasure of Allah lies in the pleasure of parents, and the displeasure of Allah lies in the displeasure of parents.”

In closing, he prayed that all children become righteous and dutiful, continuing to serve their parents whether they are still alive or have passed on.

“Happy Father’s Day to all fathers in Malaysia,” he said.
