WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec 14, 2025 – President Donald Trump highlighted strong economic progress under his administration during remarks at the annual Congressional Ball held at the White House on December 11, standing alongside First Lady Melania Trump at a distinctive golden eagle lectern in the Grand Foyer.
In a clip shared widely on social media by the official Rapid Response 47 account, Trump stated: “We inherited a mess from Biden… We now have inflation totally neutralized… We had more people working on Friday than at any time in the history of our country. Wages have gone up more than inflation — first time that’s happened in many years.”
The event, a traditional holiday reception for members of Congress and their families, featured festive decorations including Christmas trees and lights in the background. First Lady Melania Trump also spoke briefly, thanking House Speaker Mike Johnson for supporting legislation related to online safety and hinting at a new initiative, to which the president humorously responded that he was hearing about it for the first time.
Trump’s comments come as his administration marks nearly a year in office, emphasizing job growth, wage increases, and efforts to curb inflation inherited from the previous administration.
The Congressional Ball has been revived as a bipartisan tradition, drawing lawmakers from both parties to the White House for an evening of celebration amid the holiday season.
