TAWAU, SABAH, MALAYSIA Nov 10, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the opening of the New Building Block at Tawau Hospital, declaring it a new landmark in Sabah’s healthcare system. He emphasized that this infrastructure development symbolizes the MADANI Government’s firm commitment to providing modern, safe, and high-quality healthcare services to the people of Sabah.
In his speech at the inauguration ceremony held at Tawau Hospital this morning, Anwar stated that the upgrade project will bring significant benefits to communities in eastern Sabah while strengthening the hospital’s capacity to handle the increasing number of patients over time. “This is a strategic step to ensure better healthcare access, especially in rapidly developing areas,” he said.
Anwar also stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and close cooperation between the Federal and State Governments of Sabah to ensure that every infrastructure project like this is completed on schedule, well-maintained, and truly utilized by the public. “Without this collaboration, our efforts to develop the nation will be hindered. We must ensure that every ringgit invested delivers a direct impact on the people’s well-being,” he added.
The national leader reiterated the MADANI Government’s strong emphasis on two key pillars—education and healthcare—which are seen as the foundation for uplifting the dignity of the people and advancing Malaysia. “Both sectors will continue to receive full attention, whether in terms of services or facilities. This is a long-term investment for the welfare of all citizens, regardless of background or location,” Anwar stated.
The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, representatives from the Sabah State Government, and the local community, who warmly welcomed the initiative as evidence of the central government’s commitment to rural development. The New Building Block at Tawau Hospital is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year, featuring additional facilities such as expanded wards and state-of-the-art medical equipment.
Through such initiatives, the MADANI Government continues to demonstrate its intent to bridge healthcare gaps across the country, particularly in states like Sabah that play a crucial role in the national development agenda.
