PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA, Oct 4, 2025 – In a resounding endorsement of Malaysia’s diplomatic prowess, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for successfully repatriating 23 Malaysian citizens detained by the Israeli regime following their participation in the Global Sumud Flotilla – Sumud Nusantara mission.

“Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah SWT for this monumental achievement by YAB Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” Saifuddin said in a statement on behalf of the Home Ministry (KDN). He described the success as a testament to the strength of Madani diplomacy, rooted in principles of humanity, justice, and national dignity.
On behalf of KDN, Saifuddin extended his highest congratulations and appreciation to the Prime Minister for his bold, principled leadership grounded in universal humanitarian values. “This effort reflects the unity of Malaysia’s voice on the global stage – a nation that firmly rejects oppression and steadfastly defends the rights of its people wherever they may be,” he added.
The breakthrough came after prolonged and multi-layered diplomatic negotiations involving several countries, including Türkiye, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and the United States. Saifuddin highlighted his own involvement in discussions with Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy to President Donald Trump, as a supportive measure that bolstered the Prime Minister’s diplomatic channels and reinforced international communication lines.
“It proves that the Madani Government operates as a united team, acting in unison and consensus for the people,” he emphasized.
The diplomatic push extended beyond Malaysians and Turks, encompassing representatives from Europe, Indonesia, and other nations who joined the flotilla’s freedom mission. Saifuddin noted that the initiative was a resounding success in raising global awareness that the Israeli regime not only opposes the Palestinian and Gaza liberation movements but also blocks humanitarian aid to the oppressed.
KDN welcomed the victory with profound gratitude and pride. “This is not just a success in freeing detainees but also in upholding the dignity and safety of Malaysians,” Saifuddin stated, reaffirming that citizen safety remains the ministry’s top priority.
He also expressed deep appreciation to all diplomatic and security officials who worked tirelessly to ensure the safe return of these humanitarian heroes. “May those released be granted strength and peace after enduring the bitter trials under the Zionist regime’s cruelty,” he said.
The achievement serves as a reminder that Malaysia stands firmly with the Palestinian people, and that the voice of humanity cannot be silenced. “This is the true spirit of the Madani Government – one that is courageous, humane, and always aligned with truth,” Saifuddin concluded.
The 23 activists are expected to arrive in Malaysia soon after undergoing health checks in Istanbul, marking the culmination of a high-stakes international effort. Further details on their reception will be announced by relevant authorities.
