
PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA Oct 2, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Thursday assured that his administration is intensifying diplomatic efforts to secure the immediate release of Malaysian, ASEAN, and international volunteers and activists currently detained.
In a statement, Anwar said: “I and the team are actively engaging with stakeholders, including diplomatic channels, to ensure that Malaysian, ASEAN, and international volunteers and activists are freed as soon as possible.”
Addressing the families of those affected, he extended solidarity, adding: “To the family members of all activists and volunteers, may you continue to be granted strength and resilience in facing this challenging time. Updates on every step toward their release will be communicated periodically.”
Anwar also called on the public to unite in prayer for the detainees’ safety. “Let us all join together in praying that all those held captive, especially Malaysians, remain safe and protected,” he urged.
