PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA Sept 30, 2025 – Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail today stressed the importance of leadership by example during his address at the monthly assembly organized by the Malaysia Prison Department, quoting, “The best leader leads by example, or else you don’t lead at all.”

Drawing inspiration from Prophet Muhammad SAW’s participation in digging trenches during the Battle of Khandaq alongside his companions, the minister underscored the need for leaders within the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) to share burdens rather than observe from afar. “We face various challenges daily—mentally, emotionally, and physically. Yet, our strength lies in leaders who stand together with their teams,” he said.
The morning assembly began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by a former inmate who memorized all 30 juzuk while incarcerated, a testament to the reach of divine guidance even behind bars.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin congratulated the Malaysia Prison Department for hosting the meaningful event, noting the effort required to organize it. “The outcome was clear—orderly, purposeful, and inspiring,” he added.
The minister’s remarks highlighted the role of collective effort in overcoming challenges, aligning with his call for exemplary leadership across KDN’s operations.
