PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, Sept. 25, 2025 — In a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump today, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim underscored Malaysia’s commitment as ASEAN Chair to actively promote regional peace, particularly on the Cambodia-Thailand issue.

President Trump praised Malaysia’s success in brokering a ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, calling it a significant achievement that highlights Malaysia’s leadership and ASEAN’s resolve.
Anwar expressed gratitude for the United States’ role in supporting the ceasefire’s realization.
The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to President Trump for next month’s ASEAN Summit, emphasizing its importance as a platform to strengthen cooperation for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
The call coincided with a courtesy visit from U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, who is in Malaysia for the 57th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting (AEM) and related discussions.
