NEW YORK, USA, Sept 22, 2025 – In a powerful address at the United Nations General Assembly, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his nation’s commitment to a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Speaking at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 22, 2025, President Subianto called for the implementation of the recently endorsed New York Declaration, aimed at fostering a just and peaceful resolution.

The declaration, endorsed by the UN General Assembly on September 12, 2025, emerged from a high-level international conference co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia. It outlines a roadmap to revive the two-state solution, a stance Indonesia has consistently supported. During his speech, President Subianto expressed appreciation for the declaration, stating it paves the way for “true peace” and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation, has no formal diplomatic ties with Israel but has long advocated for Palestinian sovereignty. President Subianto emphasized his country’s readiness to contribute peacekeeping forces to help end the conflict and ensure the safety of the Palestinian people.
“As a consistent member of the UN calling for peace, Indonesia stands prepared to deploy troops to safeguard stability,” he declared.
The address, delivered against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Gaza, highlighted Indonesia’s historical role in UN peacekeeping missions, including deployments post-Sinai War in 1956 and in Lebanon in 2006. The President’s remarks were accompanied by images of the UN session, showcasing the global assembly and his engagement with delegates.
The New York Declaration also calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and the disarmament of Hamas as critical steps toward peace. This aligns with recent moves by several European nations, including France, Portugal, and Malta, which have announced plans to recognize Palestine ahead of the conference.
President Subianto’s speech has sparked varied reactions on social media, with some praising Indonesia’s bold stance and others questioning the feasibility of the two-state solution. As the international community deliberates, Indonesia’s proactive role continues to resonate on the global stage.
