PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA Nov 2, 2025 – The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) confirmed yesterday that the War Zone Championship has not obtained official approval from the ministry, sparking concerns over adherence to regulations for international sports events in Malaysia.
In an official statement, KBS emphasized that any organization of sports events, particularly those involving international participants, must secure permission from the Malaysian Sports Commissioner (PJS) in accordance with the Sports Development Act 1997 (Act 576).
“We advise all involved parties to comply with the established regulations to ensure the integrity and safety of the nation’s sports,” the statement asserted, signed by Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh.
According to Act 576, organizing international sports events without PJS approval may invite legal action under Section 36, including fines or other appropriate penalties.
KBS also reminded sports event organizers that these measures are taken to protect athletes, spectators, and the reputation of the nation’s sports, while ensuring such events align with international standards.
The War Zone Championship, expected to feature extreme sports competitions, has garnered public attention through its social media promotions, but no further details have been provided regarding the event’s date or location.
The ministry invites all interested parties organizing sports events to contact PJS for guidance and early approval to avoid any future legal issues.
In the statement, Hannah Yeoh added: “The integrity of sports is a shared responsibility. Let us ensure every event contributes to the healthy and safe development of youth and sports in the nation.”
