SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA March 16, 2026 – Selangor Police have successfully arrested 12 individuals, including one local woman, in relation to acts of mischief (vandalism/destruction of property) and criminal intimidation that occurred in the Taman Kinrara residential area, Puchong, on March 9 and 10, 2026.
In a press conference today, Selangor Police Chief CP Dato’ Pahlawan Shazeli bin Dato’ Kahar confirmed that the suspects, aged between 30 and 40 years old, were detained through a coordinated operation involving the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Bukit Aman, Selangor CID, and the Serdang District CID from March 12 to 15, 2026. The raids took place at various locations including Banting, Subang, and Serdang.
Of the 12 arrested, seven suspects have been identified as having direct involvement in the incident and remain in custody for further investigation, while the remaining five have been released on police bail.
The case involves mischief, including the alleged arson of vehicles, and criminal threats directed at community activist S. Chandrasegaran, popularly known as Cikgu Chandra. Investigations are being conducted under Section 427 (mischief causing damage), Section 506 (criminal intimidation), and Section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance) of the Penal Code to determine the exact motive.
During the operation, police seized three vehicles believed to have been used in the incident: an orange Toyota Vios, a white Honda City, and a grey Nissan Almera. Also confiscated were two motorcycles — a red-black Honda Wave and a grey Yamaha Y16 — along with 14 mobile phones, one helmet, and clothing worn during the incident.
Background checks revealed that five of the seven suspects still in custody have prior criminal records. Preliminary urine screening tests on all suspects returned negative for drugs.
The motive behind the incident is still under investigation, but early indications point to possible dissatisfaction or feelings of being offended as contributing factors.
Police urged the public to refrain from making speculations that could disturb public order and to allow authorities to complete the investigation thoroughly and transparently.
The press conference was also attended by Deputy Selangor Police Chief DCP Mohd Zaini bin Abu Hassan, SAC Mohamad Hatta bin Che Din (Head of Selangor CID), ACP Muhamad Farid bin Ahmad (Serdang District Police Chief), Supt. Supari bin Mohamad (D9 Officer, Selangor CID), along with senior officers from relevant departments and media representatives.
