RIYADH, February 28, 2026 – Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier Saudia has officially confirmed the suspension or cancellation of several flights due to escalating regional tensions and widespread airspace restrictions in the Middle East.
In an official statement released today on its verified X (formerly Twitter) account (@SaudiaGroup), Saudia stated:
“Saudia confirms that, due to the evolving situation in the region and airspace closures, certain flights have been suspended or cancelled in line with aviation Safety and Security standards. The Emergency Coordination Center continues to monitor developments with the relevant authorities.”
The airline added that affected passengers will be notified directly through the contact details linked to their bookings. Travellers are strongly advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
The disruptions follow coordinated US and Israeli military strikes on targets in Iran earlier today, prompting Iranian retaliation and reports of explosions across parts of the Persian Gulf region, including areas near Riyadh. In response, multiple countries — including Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE (partial closure) — have closed or restricted their airspace for civilian flights.
Several international airlines have announced similar cancellations and delays as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety.
Saudia’s statement concludes: “Guests will be notified of any updates through the contact details linked to their bookings and are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Further information will be shared as it becomes available.”
Advice for Passengers

• Monitor updates from Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and local aviation authorities.
This is a rapidly developing situation. Life News Agency will continue to monitor and provide updates as more information emerges from Saudia and regional authorities.
