MEROTAI, SABAH. MALAYSIA November 19. 2025 – Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, was present in N.72 Merotai, Tawau, to declare his firm support for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Datuk Hj Ruji Hj Ubi, who is contesting in the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN).
In a statement issued at the campaign site, Saifuddin Nasution emphasised that he had offered his assistance right from the start, immediately after Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced Datuk Ruji as the PH candidate for the area.

“My support is not merely because of our previous working relationship, but because I know the true value of his more than 30 years of experience in national administration, which truly deserves to be fully utilised for the progress of the people of Merotai,” Saifuddin Nasution stressed.
He also praised Datuk Ruji’s decision, despite having reached the pinnacle of public service, to return and serve in his homeland of Sabah.
“Although he once reached the pinnacle of national public service, Datuk Ruji has chosen to return and serve in his birthplace. That choice alone demonstrates the soul of a true people’s leader who genuinely wants to serve the rakyat,” he added.

Saifuddin Nasution further appealed to all voters in the Merotai constituency to give Datuk Ruji a chance by voting for Pakatan Harapan.
“I appeal to all voters in Merotai: give him the opportunity. Together, let us make Merotai one of Pakatan Harapan’s seats and be part of the party that will, Insya-Allah, form the Sabah Government in the future,” he said.
The presence of this Minister of Home Affairs from Peninsular Malaysia is seen as a major boost to the PH campaign machinery in Merotai as polling day draws near.
