KUALA MEROTAI, SABAH, MALAYSIA Nov 8 2025 – Former Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Datuk Ruji Ubi, joined the Casual Gathering with the Merdeka Democratic Association (PDM) Kuala Merotai yesterday, in an effort to foster a spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among local residents.
This community event, held on November 6, was attended by various groups of Kuala Merotai residents in Sabah, including community leaders and ordinary citizens. Datuk Ruji, a native son of Merotai, actively participated by engaging in light conversations and sharing views on local challenges such as rural development and social needs.

He expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to interact in a relaxed manner, while emphasizing the role of such events in building stronger bonds. “Alhamdulillah, today I had the opportunity to gather with the residents of Kuala Merotai in the casual program with PDM Kuala Merotai. May this meeting become a platform to strengthen brotherhood and solidify the spirit of cooperation among us all,” said Datuk Ruji in a note on his official Facebook page.
Datuk Ruji Ubi, born on June 18, 1970, is recognized as one of Sabah’s top civil servants to reach the highest federal-level positions. He holds a Master’s degree in International Studies (Peace & Conflict Resolutions) from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Previously, he served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Unity, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Education, making him an influential figure in the nation’s public administration.
