KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA March 3, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today told the Dewan Rakyat that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) and its partner agencies have successfully recovered RM15.5 billion in assets and funds seized from corruption and abuse-of-power cases throughout 2025.
Speaking during the Prime Minister’s Question Time session, Anwar expressed gratitude for the achievement, stating it has directly contributed to Malaysia’s improved standing in the global Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
“Alhamdulillah, through the integrated efforts of SPRM and related agencies, RM15.5 billion has been successfully recovered, which also contributed to the improvement of Malaysia’s position in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI),” he said.
The Prime Minister was responding to questions on graft and power abuse, emphasising the government’s ongoing commitment to anti-corruption reforms under the MADANI framework.
On calls for the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into related matters, Anwar revealed that investigations led by the Attorney General’s Chambers are nearing completion. He advised caution, saying the government will first study the full findings and rationale of the report before deciding on any follow-up steps.
“Therefore, it is appropriate for us to first examine the findings and rationale of the report before considering any follow-up actions,” he added.
Anwar shared the update via a video posted on his official X account (@anwaribrahim), which captured his parliamentary address.
The recovery figure and CPI improvement underscore the MADANI government’s intensified drive against corruption, with SPRM continuing high-profile operations across multiple sectors.
