In a brief statement shared through official channels, Anwar recounted his personal interaction with the activists in Istanbul, Turkey. “Alhamdulillah, they are all in good condition and their spirits remain strong,” he said, emphasizing the resilience of the group despite the challenges faced during detention.

Anwar praised the activists as “a symbol of the courage of the Malaysian people who uphold humanitarian values without borders.” He expressed gratitude for their steadfastness and sacrifices in advocating for the plight of the people of Gaza, who continue to be oppressed amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

According to Anwar, the government will organize a special gathering in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the return of these “heroes and heroines of humanity.” The event also aims to further ignite Malaysian solidarity with their brothers and sisters in Gaza, as a sign of continued support for global humanitarian causes.

The release of this group of Malaysian activists occurred after they were detained during a humanitarian aid mission in the area, drawing international attention to Malaysia’s diplomatic efforts. The Malaysian government had previously voiced demands for their immediate release through diplomatic channels.
