PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA April 2, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a Special Meeting of Menteri Besar and Ketua Menteri to comprehensively review the ongoing global energy crisis triggered by conflicts in West Asia (Middle East).
In a statement posted on his official X account, Anwar described the meeting as a crucial platform for state leaders and the federal government to align actions based on real-time data and current realities.
“The special meeting of Menteri Besar and Ketua Menteri today served as an important platform to thoroughly examine developments in the global energy crisis following the conflict in West Asia,” he said.
He stressed that the government is adopting a data-driven and fact-based approach so that every state leadership can act in unison and coordination with the Federal Government.
The MADANI administration is activating detailed and comprehensive scenario planning to face various possibilities, including ensuring the nation’s energy supply remains secure under all circumstances.
“ The MADANI Government’s focus remains firm and unwavering — ensuring supply stability, containing upward pressure on prices, and protecting the rakyat from the direct impact of this crisis,” Anwar added.
He assured that every measure is being implemented with full responsibility and careful consideration, with clear priority given to safeguarding the people’s welfare through targeted and effective support initiatives.
Strategic engagement with all stakeholders — including industry players and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) — will continue to be strengthened to ensure every approach is holistic, balanced, and high-impact.
Anwar emphasised that the spirit of togetherness between the Federal and State Governments remains the core pillar, expressing confidence that Malaysia will stay resilient and capable of protecting its citizens under any condition.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office complex, with state leaders seated in a formal conference setting featuring the national crest and an array of state and national flags.
Official photographs released alongside the statement show Anwar addressing the gathering from the head of the table, underscoring the collaborative federal-state partnership.
The statement carries the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI, #MADANIbekerja and #YakinMADANI, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to its people-centric agenda.
This coordinated response comes as global energy markets face heightened volatility due to the West Asia conflict, with the government determined to insulate Malaysians from potential price shocks and supply disruptions.
