GENEVA, July 11, 2025 – Amid ongoing conflict and scarcity of basic needs, Nidaa Awawda, Project Leader at Palestine Al Hub, has spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative using technology to predict and prevent the spread of Tuberculosis (TB) in Palestine.

The project has earned global acclaim, securing a spot among the top 20 individual projects worldwide at the WSIS Prize 2025 in Geneva. Nidaa’s inspiration stems from her personal experience battling polio as a child, fueling her commitment to improving public health.

Nidaa revealed that Palestinian community leaders and peers encouraged her to connect with Malaysia’s delegation at WSIS to seek support for further developing the project. “I was advised to meet the Malaysian team to explore collaboration,” she shared.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil welcomed the opportunity to collaborate, emphasizing potential partnerships with the Ministry of Communications to share expertise and technology. “Insha’Allah, we are ready to support Palestinian youth to realize their dreams of building a safe, dignified, and independent future,” he said.
