ISLAMABAD February 28, 2026 – Pakistan has firmly condemned the joint US-Israel military strikes on Iran, describing them as “unwarranted attacks” and calling for an urgent halt to escalation through diplomatic means.
In a telephone conversation today, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. The two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving situation in Iran and the wider region following today’s reported strikes on multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran.
According to an official statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), DPM/FM Dar “strongly condemned the unwarranted attacks against Iran and called for an immediate halt to escalation through urgent resumption of diplomacy to achieve a peaceful, negotiated resolution to the crisis.”
The conversation comes amid heightened regional tensions after the United States and Israel launched major strikes on Iranian targets earlier today. Iran has vowed retaliation, raising fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
Pakistan, a key Muslim-majority nation, has consistently advocated for restraint, dialogue, and peaceful resolution of disputes in the region. The statement underscores Islamabad’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while emphasizing the need to prevent further bloodshed.
An official graphic released by MOFA depicts the telephone conversation, featuring portraits of both foreign ministers alongside the national flags of Pakistan and Iran against a world map backdrop, dated 28 February 2026.
This marks one of the earliest strong condemnations from a major Muslim country following the strikes. Pakistan has urged all parties involved to return to the negotiating table to restore stability in the volatile region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not announced any further immediate diplomatic steps, but sources indicate Pakistan remains in close contact with regional and international partners to promote de-escalation.
