LONDON December 31, 2025 – Reform UK leader Nigel Farage delivered a stark New Year’s address on Tuesday, declaring that his party represents the “last chance for Britain” amid what he described as unprecedented national gloom.
Standing in a formal suit against a backdrop featuring historic architecture and the London skyline at dusk, Mr Farage painted a pessimistic picture of the country’s state as 2025 ends.
“As 2025 draws to a close, I can’t remember the country ever being gloomier,” he said. “People are getting poorer. More people are becoming unemployed.”
The Reform UK leader highlighted rising living costs, increasing unemployment, high public debt, and public safety concerns as key issues eroding public confidence.
However, Mr Farage struck an optimistic note for his party’s prospects, pointing to Reform UK’s strong performance in the 2025 local elections – where the party reportedly won more council seats than any other and took control of several authorities – as proof of growing support.
“We’re the party offering hope. We’re the ones offering change,” he asserted. “And 2025 showed you, with those county elections which we comfortably won, what we are capable of.”
Looking ahead to 2026, Mr Farage expressed confidence that further electoral gains, particularly in upcoming local contests including London boroughs, could position Reform UK for even greater influence.
The message comes as Reform UK continues to build momentum following its breakthrough in national politics, with Mr Farage emphasising the need for radical change to restore national pride and economic stability.
“And we are genuinely the last chance for Britain,” he concluded.
The video address was shared widely on social media, including on X (formerly Twitter), where it garnered significant attention from supporters and critics alike.
Reform UK’s rise has intensified pressure on both the governing Labour Party and the opposition Conservatives, with analysts noting the party’s appeal among disillusioned voters.
