KUALA LUMPUR April 12, 2026 – Investments will not flow into Malaysia simply because they are requested; they will arrive when the country’s systems are fundamentally sound, said Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Chairman Datuk Seri UtamaTengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz.
In a recently statement on X following a high-level meeting with Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Tengku Zafrul stressed the need for stronger alignment between the two agencies amid an increasingly competitive global economy.
“Pelaburan tak datang sebab kita minta – pelaburan datang bila sistem kita betul,” he wrote.
He emphasised that government agencies can no longer operate in isolation.
“We cannot work in silo! MITI and MIDA need to be closer, more aligned – not just to attract investments, but to ensure they are implemented and truly benefit the rakyat,” Tengku Zafrul said.
The focus, he added, must move beyond headline figures on paper to delivering tangible outcomes: quality jobs, business opportunities, and a brighter future for Malaysians.
“When we move as one team, only then can Malaysia go further,” he noted.
The engagement between MIDA and the MITI Minister included discussions and a working session aimed at enhancing coordination for sustainable and resilient investment growth. Two accompanying photographs showed the officials walking together in a modern venue and seated for a formal meeting at a long dining table.
The remarks align with the Madani Government’s push to strengthen Malaysia’s investment ecosystem through better inter-agency collaboration under the #MalaysiaMadani framework.
Tengku Zafrul, who also serves as President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), signed off the post with the hashtags #TZA #MADANIBekerja #MalaysiaMadani #MIDA #pelaburan.
