Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Visits Ethiopia’s Science Museum and Friendship Park, Hails Rapid Development Under PM Abiy Ahmed

ADDIS ABABA, Nov 18. 2025 — Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was personally escorted by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali to the Ethiopia Science Museum shortly after arriving in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, as part of his three-day official visit.

The museum showcases the country’s advancements in technology and artificial intelligence driven by Dr Abiy’s administration. Prime Minister Anwar expressed admiration for Ethiopia’s achievements, describing it as one of the fastest-developing nations in the Horn of Africa.

“Alhamdulillah, I and the delegation were thrilled by the landmark developments achieved by Ethiopia,” Anwar said in a statement released after the visit.

The Malaysian leader later visited Friendship Park, a major recreational and cultural site that houses a zoo, national historical archives, and green spaces popular with residents.

Anwar highlighted the warm hospitality extended by his Ethiopian counterpart, stating that the personal gesture reflected the growing closeness between the two nations as they work to expand bilateral opportunities and potential.

“The warmth and friendship demonstrated are deeply appreciated as Malaysia and Ethiopia strive to strengthen ties and unlock shared opportunities,” the Prime Minister added.

The visits underscore the personal rapport between the two leaders and complement ongoing high-level talks aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and people-to-people exchanges during the 60th anniversary year of Malaysia–Ethiopia diplomatic relations.

Further engagements, including delegation-level meetings and the signing of potential agreements, are scheduled over the remainder of the official visit.
