Malaysian Delegation Wraps Up Successful BRICS Summit Mission in Rio, Eyes Stronger Global Ties

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil,  July 8, 2025 – The Malaysian delegation has concluded its official engagements at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, marking the end of a fruitful mission that now sees the team preparing to return to the beloved homeland. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude and optimism, hailing the visit as a resounding success in achieving its primary goal: strengthening bilateral ties not only with Brazil but also with other BRICS member nations, thereby expanding Malaysia’s strategic global cooperation network.

Speaking from Rio, Anwar highlighted the delegation’s unwavering commitment, which has kept Malaysia’s name on the lips of international investors. “The MADANI Government’s relentless efforts to attract high-quality investments are driving growth and delivering tangible benefits to the people,” he said, crediting the collective dedication of the entire team. The summit, held from April 28-29, 2025, provided a platform for Malaysia to showcase its economic potential, with discussions focusing on trade, investment, and regional stability.

Despite the achievements, Anwar acknowledged the presence of detractors, urging the nation to rise above “discordant voices” attempting to undermine the progress. “Our journey is far from over. With resolve and commitment, we will continue to push forward, bringing real change for our country and future generations,” he affirmed. The Prime Minister’s remarks come as Malaysia navigates a complex global landscape, with the BRICS platform offering opportunities to enhance its economic footprint.
