JEDDAH February 28, 2026 — The Consulate General of Malaysia (KJM) in Jeddah has issued an official advisory to Malaysian nationals residing in or visiting the western region of Saudi Arabia, urging them to remain vigilant amid ongoing regional developments while confirming that the overall situation in the kingdom is safe and under control.
In a notice dated 28 February 2026, the consulate stated it is continuously monitoring the latest developments in the area.
“The situation across all of Saudi Arabia at this time is safe and secure,” the notice read.
However, Malaysians in the country are advised to stay informed about current events and to remain calm. They are also reminded to refrain from posting or spreading any content that could be interpreted as disturbing public order, which constitutes an offence under Saudi law.
Malaysian citizens staying in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia, as well as those performing Umrah or ziarah (visits to holy sites), are strongly encouraged to immediately download the MyWorldAlert mobile application. The app will enable them to monitor the situation in real time and facilitate consular assistance if required.
For those planning air travel, the notice advised checking the latest flight schedules directly with their respective airlines to avoid any inconvenience.
The consulate added that it maintains constant communication with relevant authorities and will promptly announce any significant developments requiring further action.
Contact details for emergencies were provided as follows:
Telephone: +966 126 727 740 (emergencies only)
Email: mwj Jeddah@kln.gov.my
The advisory was issued against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Middle East, including recent missile activity in the region that has led to temporary airspace restrictions and flight disruptions, including some Malaysia Airlines services to Jeddah and Madinah. A small number of Malaysian Umrah pilgrims have also been affected.
The full notice is available on the official Facebook page of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
Malaysians overseas are reminded to register their travel details via the MyWorldAlert app for better consular support during emergencies.
