PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA February 28, 2026 – Malaysia has issued a strong condemnation of the recent military strikes targeting Iran and the subsequent retaliatory attacks on several countries in West Asia, calling for immediate de-escalation and respect for international law.
In an official press release issued today by Wisma Putra, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Malaysia “strongly condemns the attacks against Iran and the subsequent retaliatory attacks against several countries in the region namely Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar on 28 February 2026.”
The statement emphasised that such actions “violate the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the prohibition against the use of force under the Charter of the United Nations and international law.” It further warned that “such unilateral military measures risk further destabilising an already fragile region and endangering civilian lives.”
Malaysia urged all parties to exercise “maximum restraint” to prevent further escalation that could have wider global consequences. “Malaysia reiterates that disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, in full respect of international law,” the release added.
The ministry also called on the international community, including the United Nations, to take “urgent and decisive action to de-escalate the situation and restore peace and stability in the region.”
