PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA March 11, 2026 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has cracked down on the illegal storage of subsidized cooking oil, seizing approximately 1,326 kilograms worth RM5,569.20 during a special operation in Putrajaya.
The raid, conducted under OPS GASAK by KPDN’s Enforcement Division, targeted a two-story residential premise on March 9, 2026, following a public tip-off about unauthorized storage of controlled goods. Enforcement officers arrived to find the unguarded property unoccupied, with no individuals present initially.
A thorough inspection revealed 78 boxes of packet cooking oil hidden on the premises, each containing 17 one-kilogram packets. The oil was believed to be stored for illegal trading without a valid license from the Supply Controller.
During the operation, a local man arrived at the scene and identified himself as the son of the property owner. He was issued an inspection statement and seizure acknowledgment for further investigation.
The case is being probed under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961 (Act 122), read together with Regulation 3(1) of the Supply Control Regulations 1974, for possessing controlled goods with intent to trade without proper authorization.
KPDN emphasized its commitment to intensifying nationwide enforcement to curb misuse of subsidized items, which undermines consumer interests and causes government subsidy leakages.
The public is urged to report suspicious activities through official channels:

Datuk Azman bin Adam, Director-General of Enforcement at KPDN, signed the official statement, reiterating the ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on such violations.
This operation highlights ongoing efforts to protect subsidized essential goods amid rising concerns over smuggling and black-market activities in Malaysia.
