Imigresen FC Launched to Compete in 2025/2026 Malaysia Super League

KEDAH, Malaysia  August 6, 2025 – Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail officially launched Imigresen Football Club (IFC) today, announcing its debut in the Malaysia Super League for the 2025/2026 season, organized by the Malaysian Football League (MFL). The event, held in Kedah, also introduced IFC’s secondary team, set to compete in the A1 Semi-Pro League under the Amateur Football Club.

Speaking at a press conference, Saifuddin revealed that IFC’s Super League team will be based in northern Malaysia, with intensive training already underway since July. “The northern region, particularly Kedah and Perlis, has a rich football history but has lacked representation in the Super League. We’re bringing one of the Home Ministry’s two qualified teams to this region to fill that gap,” he said.

The minister highlighted the team’s role in offering northern football fans a chance to experience high-quality Super League action. “IFC provides an alternative for fans in the north. They can watch top-tier matches, including against teams like JDT, during our home games,” he added.

IFC’s squad blends local talent from Kedah, Penang, Melaka, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, and Pahang, with international players from Myanmar, Iran, Brazil, Venezuela, and Australia. Two additional foreign players are expected to join soon. “With experienced local players and international additions, IFC is poised to compete strongly and bring pride to the Immigration Department and the Home Ministry,” Saifuddin said.

Encouraging fan support, he urged northern football enthusiasts to rally behind both IFC teams. “This is a professional era. Fans can choose their teams, and IFC offers a fresh option for the northern zone,” he said, noting that IFC’s A1 team provides an additional avenue for fans to engage with competitive football.

Addressing the team’s ambitions, Saifuddin emphasized realistic goals over undue pressure. “I told head coach Yusri to focus on building the team and delivering their best on the pitch. Anything can happen in 90 minutes—that’s the beauty of Malaysian football,” he said, drawing on his own experience as a former player.

The minister also announced secured sponsorships for IFC, with major backers already committed following months of negotiations. “These sponsors show strong support for the team’s vision,” he assured, addressing concerns raised by Immigration Department Director-General Dr. Syahmi and other officials.

For now, Stadium Batu Kawan will serve as IFC’s home ground, with Stadium Dato’ Syed Ahmad as a potential venue after ongoing renovations are completed in 2–3 months. The team is also in talks to use Stadium Darul Aman for the season, which Saifuddin noted could boost revenue due to non-conflicting match schedules—Super League games in the evening and A1 matches in the afternoon.

“This launch marks IFC’s historic entry into the Super League. We’re confident this debut will yield proud results, even against established teams like JDT,” Saifuddin concluded, expressing optimism for the team’s future.
