PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA February 9, 2026 — The MADANI Government today commenced the nationwide disbursement of Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) untuk Semua, providing a one-off RM100 e-credit to more than 22 million adult Malaysian citizens holding MyKad.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the rollout during the Prime Minister’s Monthly Assembly, with a total allocation of RM2.2 billion. The credit, valid until 31 December 2026, can be used to purchase essential goods at participating outlets.
Households with multiple eligible adult members will receive multiplied benefits. For example, a family comprising a husband, wife, and two children aged 18 and above will receive a total of RM400 in SARA credits, excluding any additional monthly SARA assistance they may qualify for.
Responding to public feedback, the government has introduced several enhancements:
- Expansion of eligible items to include frozen food, increasing the total categories to 15 and the number of redeemable products to 140,000.
- A target to onboard 10,000 small grocery stores as SARA partners by the end of 2026.
- Reduction of the maximum distance to the nearest participating grocery store from 10 km to 7 km.
Members of the public can check their credit status and access frequently asked questions (FAQ) through the official SARA portal at https://sara.gov.my.
The Ministry of Finance also issued a reminder for the public to stay vigilant against fraudulent links and scams. The ministry stressed that it will never request personal information via SMS or WhatsApp, and urged citizens to refer only to official channels for the latest updates.
The initiative underscores the government’s continued commitment to easing the cost of living for Malaysians through targeted cash and in-kind assistance.
