WASHINGTON, D.C. December 29, 2025 – Tech billionaire Elon Musk has sharply criticized non-governmental organizations (NGOs), claiming many exploit the pretext of aiding children to perpetrate large-scale fraud against taxpayers.
In a widely shared video clip posted by the official America PAC account — a political action committee founded by Musk — the Tesla and SpaceX CEO stated: “NGOs commonly use the lie that they are ‘helping children’ to commit fraud.”
The clip, which has garnered over half a million views, appears to be excerpted from Musk’s virtual appearance at the Qatar Economic Forum earlier this year, though the specific context ties directly to ongoing U.S. government efficiency efforts and fraud investigations.
Musk’s remarks align with recent high-profile federal probes into fraud schemes involving child nutrition programs, autism services, and other aid initiatives — many of which have been linked to NGO operators and federal funding during the COVID-19 era. Critics of such programs, including members of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), co-led by Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, have highlighted billions in alleged waste and diversion of funds.
The post quickly drew support from conservative accounts and figures emphasizing accountability in government spending. “Sad but true,” one reply noted, while others connected it to broader accusations of child trafficking and mismanagement in aid programs.
Musk, who has positioned himself as a key advisor on slashing federal bureaucracy, has repeatedly advocated for aggressive cuts to what he describes as wasteful or fraudulent spending. His involvement in DOGE has focused on identifying trillions in potential savings, often targeting foreign aid, entitlement programs, and NGO-administered initiatives.
Advocates for NGOs and international aid organizations have pushed back against broad generalizations, arguing that the vast majority of such groups operate transparently and provide essential services to vulnerable populations, including children.
The statement comes amid heightened scrutiny of federal fraud cases, including the ongoing Minnesota investigations into multimillion-dollar schemes that prosecutors say exploited child-focused programs. Musk’s public commentary underscores the administration’s priority on rooting out abuse in taxpayer-funded initiatives.
