TAWAU, SABAH, MALAYSIA Nov 11, 2025 – Datuk Ruji Ubi, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Merotai State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and former Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, today had the opportunity to attend the Digital Tour Ceremony themed “Empowering the Malaysian People Through Digital” alongside Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PMX), the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
The program was organized as a primary platform to strengthen the country’s digitalization agenda, with a focus on developing a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. This digital tour initiative also introduces the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and expands digital access to people across all segments of society, including often marginalized rural areas.
According to Datuk Ruji, the event not only serves as a catalyst for digital transformation but also emphasizes strategic collaboration between the government, private sector, and community. “Alhamdulillah, I had the opportunity to join PMX, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, and the MDEC Chief Executive Officer at the Digital Tour Ceremony themed Empowering the Malaysian People Through Digital,” he said in his statement.
He added that through this collaboration, digital transformation is expected to open up new job opportunities, enhance the efficiency of public and private services, and drive overall national economic growth. “This program serves as an important platform to strengthen the country’s digitalization agenda towards a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. The initiative introduces new technologies such as AI and expands digital access to all people, including those in rural areas,” Datuk Ruji emphasized.
Datuk Ruji also expressed hope that these efforts will become the main catalyst for a more competitive and inclusive Malaysia, particularly in the state of Sabah, which has significant potential in the digital economy. “With collaboration between the government, private sector, and community, digital transformation is believed to open up job opportunities, improve service efficiency, and drive national economic growth. May these efforts become a catalyst for a more competitive and inclusive Malaysia, especially in Sabah,” he added.
This Digital Tour Ceremony aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy (NDP), which aims to position Malaysia as a digital hub in Southeast Asia by 2030. It is hoped to encourage more young people in Sabah to engage in the technology sector while reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
Sabah residents have welcomed this initiative warmly, viewing it as an opportunity to strengthen the local economy through digital innovation, in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to balanced development across the country.
