DOHA, QATAR February 28, 2026 – Qatar’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that its air defence systems successfully intercepted several missiles launched from Iran before they could enter the country’s airspace.
The ministry stated the situation is fully under control and reiterated that Qatar possesses the full capability to safeguard its territory and respond to any external threats.
The interception occurred as Iran retaliated against joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets earlier today. Iranian forces reportedly targeted multiple US military bases across the Gulf, including the massive Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — home to thousands of US troops and a key command centre for American operations in the region.
Residents in Doha reported hearing loud explosions and air raid sirens. Social media footage showed smoke trails in the sky and visible missile activity over the capital.
A Qatari official told international media that a US-made Patriot battery played a key role in the successful defence. No casualties or damage have been reported on Qatari soil.
Similar defensive actions were reported in the UAE and Bahrain, where US bases were also targeted.
The Ministry urged the public to remain calm, rely only on official sources, and avoid circulating unverified information.
This latest development marks a dangerous escalation in the rapidly unfolding regional conflict. Life News Agency will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more details emerge.
