CYBERJAYA, Malaysia. July 25, 2025– The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) has launched the REKA+ Competition to ignite creativity and innovation among Malaysian youth as part of the Bijak Air MADANI Campaign. This closed competition, aimed at creating innovative water-related products, is open to students from public and private higher learning institutions, polytechnics, and community colleges across Malaysia.

The REKA+ Competition, officially introduced on May 8, 2025, by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Public Utilities, Dato’ Seri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, runs from August 1 to November 30, 2025. The four-month period covers registration, screening, prototype development, project modeling, and professional judging. Winners will be announced on November 8, 2025.
To encourage participation, SPAN is offering a total prize pool of RM19,000, with RM10,000 for first place, RM5,000 for second, RM3,000 for third, and RM1,000 each for the fourth to tenth places as consolation prizes.
Promotion of the competition began on June 4, 2025, through SPAN’s social media channels. Official letters were sent to the Ministry of Higher Education and the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (MyPOLYCC) in June, with several institutions already expressing keen interest.
SPAN envisions REKA+ as a platform for students to showcase their creativity and innovation while fostering a sustained appreciation for water services. Entry forms and participation details will be available on SPAN’s website and social media from July 29, 2025.
