Anwar’s latest overseas engagement capped with the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro last week, where Malaysia pushed for stronger economic ties amid shifting global trade alliances. “Alhamdulillah, this visit successfully strengthened bilateral relations and expanded our strategic cooperation network,” Anwar posted on X, reflecting on the trip’s achievements. A recent World Bank report underscores the impact, noting a 15% surge in Malaysia’s foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, partly credited to the Prime Minister’s international efforts.

After a brief respite with family, Anwar wil be  headed to KLCC to kick off the ASEAN meeting, a critical platform for aligning regional stances on global challenges. The agenda includes fostering solidarity among Southeast Asian nations, with Malaysia leveraging its diplomatic gains to enhance its regional influence. The Prime Minister expressed hope for a productive session, stating, “May this be eased, Insya-Allah,” in his social media update, accompanied by an image of him descending the aircraft stairs.

As Anwar shifts focus to the ASEAN meeting, the nation watches closely. The KLCC event, part of Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN chairmanship, underscores its commitment to regional stability and prosperity. “We march forward with determination,” Anwar added, signaling a busy agenda ahead for the MADANI administration.
