SANDAKAN, SABAH, Malaysia, Sept 27, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim began his weekend agenda with a visit to the Maritime Region 2 Headquarters (MAWILLA 2) in Sandakan, where he extended aid to members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

In a brief speech, Anwar expressed deep appreciation to the officers and members of the ATM who consistently serve as the primary bulwark in defending the nation’s security and sovereignty. “Your services and sacrifices are invaluable pillars of the motherland, and they will forever be etched in the memory of the nation,” he stated via a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter) this morning.
Anwar emphasized that the MADANI Government will never neglect the welfare of ATM members. He said efforts are being intensified to accelerate the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) and a new jetty at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) Base in Sandakan, to ensure the comfort and well-being of members and their families.
At the same time, the government will ensure that defense assets are strengthened and equipped with the latest technology, so that the ATM remains capable of facing regional and global security challenges. He also urged all officers and ATM members to strengthen their mastery of new technologies and expand collaborations with various parties to enhance the socio-economic well-being of ATM personnel and their families.
Anwar also offered advice to the Ministry of Defense to ensure that every expenditure is conducted with full transparency, prudence, and free from leakages. “The strength of national defense does not lie solely in assets and members, but also depends on the integrity of management,” he added.
This visit is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with the nation’s guardians, amid national commitments to holistic defense development.
