AKPS Chief Vows Strict Action Against KLIA Officer in “Counter Setting” Scandal

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia,  July 25, 2025 – The Director-General of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), CP Dato’ Sri Mohd Suhaily bin Mohd Zain, held a follow-up press conference regarding the case of an AKPS officer at KLIA suspected of engaging in “counter setting” activities and the denial of entry to 198 foreign nationals into Malaysia. The press conference followed his surprise visit to the AKPS Operations Office at KLIA.

In his statement, Dato’ Sri Mohd Suhaily emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and honesty in carrying out duties as public servants tasked with safeguarding the nation’s security and sovereignty. He stressed that every AKPS officer represents the agency and the government, and any form of misconduct or negligence is unacceptable.

“Our duties are not only accountable to the agency but are also judged by the public and the nation. I firmly state that any officer found to be dishonest, lacking integrity, or violating discipline will face strict action without compromise,” he asserted.

He further urged that a culture of integrity be practiced daily, not just during inspections or monitoring. Continuous support and cooperation from all AKPS officers are deemed crucial to achieving the agency’s objectives with excellence.

The “counter setting” case and the denial of entry to foreign nationals are under investigation, with further actions to be taken based on the findings. AKPS remains committed to upholding integrity and professionalism in its mission to protect the nation’s borders.
