Expressing gratitude, Fadillah congratulated the new Fellows, noting that ASM’s expertise has grown significantly from its founding 50 Fellows to over 1,070 specialists today. He highlighted Malaysia’s remarkable achievement in the 2025 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, climbing 11 spots to 23rd place globally.

Fadillah emphasized the need for Malaysia to transition from “Made in Malaysia” to “Made by Malaysia,” aligning with the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMKe-13). He urged ASM to unite expertise, coordinate resources, and strengthen collaboration among government, industry, academia, and communities to realize this vision.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored ASM’s strategic role as a technical think tank, providing data-driven policy insights to drive economic, social, and environmental sustainability. He also highlighted national platforms like the National Science Council and National Water Council, chaired by the Prime Minister or himself, as evidence of Malaysia’s commitment to STIE.

As Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship this year, Fadillah called on scientists and researchers to bolster regional collaboration to address shared challenges such as climate change, food security, and regional supply chain resilience. He praised ASM’s foresight report, *ASEAN Ahead: ASEAN STI Ecosystem Foresight 2035 and Beyond*, set for launch at the upcoming ASEAN Summit in October. The report serves as a foundation for the *ASEAN Plan of Action for Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI 2026-2035)*, showcasing Malaysia’s leadership in regional scientific cooperation.

Fadillah expressed hope that ASM would continue fostering long-term collaborations to build ASEAN’s capacity to shape its own future independently. He reaffirmed his confidence in ASM’s role in leading Malaysia toward becoming an advanced, inclusive, and sustainable nation by 2030.
