KUCHING, SARAWAK, Malaysia, July 11, 2025 – A night of spiritual reflection and unity unfolded at the Islamic Information Centre in Kuching as Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof attended the Petra Jaya Da’wah Expedition 1447H/2025M, featuring renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Menk. The event drew a diverse crowd, fostering a renewed sense of purpose and community amidst modern challenges.

In his tazkirah, delivered with profound gentleness and wisdom, Mufti Menk urged attendees to reflect on the true essence of their creation as servants of Allah SWT. Highlighting the diversity of races, languages, and cultures, he emphasized a shared fitrah—innate disposition—that unites humanity in submission to the Almighty. “We live in a challenging era, yet it is rich with opportunities to spread goodness,” Mufti Menk noted.
Addressing the responsibilities within an open democratic society and a multicultural landscape, he stressed the importance of disseminating Islamic messages with hikmah (wisdom), gentleness, and compassion. “Every individual, regardless of background, and even animals and plants, possesses rights that must be respected, for they are all creations of Allah SWT,” he added.
Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, who shared his reflections post-event, echoed these sentiments, underscoring the dual obligation of believers to fulfill rights to their Creator and to fellow humans. Citing the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) teachings and Quranic verses, he highlighted rahmah (mercy) as the foundation of all dealings. “The Prophet (SAW) was sent as a mercy to all worlds, not just Muslims,” Fadillah remarked, aligning with Mufti Menk’s message.
Mufti Menk further elaborated that Islam is a religion of ihsan (excellence), rooted in Allah’s decree that all creation is imbued with mercy. He called for kindness toward both those who know Allah and those yet to embrace Him, advocating respect for differences as a source of the ummah’s strength. “Love one another and cherish the peace we enjoy today, a blessing often overlooked,” he urged.
As Malaysia advances technologically and embraces modernity, Fadillah emphasized the need to “upgrade” one’s spiritual self before Allah SWT, deeming it the truest success. He referenced a hadith from Sahih Muslim: “Indeed, Allah has made ihsan obligatory in everything,” reinforcing the call to excellence in every aspect of life.
The event concluded with prayers that the night’s teachings would ignite guidance, deepen gratitude, and inspire attendees to embody ihsan in their daily lives. As Kuching’s Islamic community reflects on this meaningful gathering, the message of unity and mercy resonates, promising to shape a more compassionate future.
