PUTRAJAYA. MALAYSIA March 3, 2026. – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired an important meeting with the management of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), where he was briefed on the progress of national housing policies, urban development initiatives, and efforts to strengthen the role of local authorities.
In a detailed update shared on his official X account (@anwaribrahim), the Prime Minister described the session as open and constructive. Discussions focused on expanding access to affordable housing for middle- and low-income groups, accelerating project approval processes, improving governance standards, and ensuring all developments are carried out with the highest levels of integrity and accountability — fully aligned with the Malaysia MADANI framework.
“The essence of this meeting is crucial to enable the ministry to formulate more comprehensive and responsive strategic measures, so that housing and community development planning truly meets the needs of the rakyat,” Anwar stated.
He emphasised that 2026 must prioritise empowering projects and programmes for the benefit of the majority, with special attention to quality affordable housing, cleanliness of public areas, and a more systematic approach to waste management.
Accompanying photos from the event showed Anwar engaged in the high-level meeting at the ministry’s conference room, interacting warmly with staff (including a moment distributing packed meals), and later joining ministry officials and staff for the Zuhur prayer congregation.
The Prime Minister performed the Zuhur prayer together with KPKT staff before proceeding to his next official engagement.
This engagement underscores the Madani government’s continued commitment to people-centric development, ensuring every Malaysian has access to decent, affordable housing and improved living environments.
