WASHINGTON D.C March 2, 2026 – U.S. military forces have carried out sustained operations that destroyed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) command and control facilities, Iranian air defense capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced.
In an official statement posted on X, CENTCOM declared:
“U.S. forces have destroyed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities, Iranian air defense capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields during sustained operations. We will continue to take decisive action against imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime.”
The announcement is the latest update from Operation Epic Fury, the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign launched at the end of February 2026 to dismantle Iran’s security apparatus and neutralize threats to the region and U.S. interests. Over the first 48 hours alone, more than 1,250 targets were struck, according to earlier CENTCOM fact sheets.
The post was accompanied by three illustrative images of U.S. forces in action: a soldier in an armored vehicle, a naval warship launching a strike with visible fire and smoke, and a fighter pilot seated in the cockpit of a jet aboard an aircraft carrier.
This phase of the operation focuses on degrading Iran’s ability to launch retaliatory missile and drone attacks. U.S. officials have stressed that the campaign will persist “as long as necessary” to eliminate imminent threats.
No immediate comment was available from Iranian officials on the latest CENTCOM claims. The strikes come amid a rapidly escalating conflict that has already seen Iranian counterattacks, including the reported deaths of six U.S. service members.
