MAKKAH March 3, 2026 – The Muslim World League (MWL) has issued a strongly worded statement denouncing what it calls the “ongoing treacherous and indiscriminate Iranian aggression” against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region.
In an official statement released from Makkah and shared on the organisation’s English-language X account (@MWLOrg_en), MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, condemned the attacks as “terrorism and corruption on earth”.
The statement reads: “These actions violate all religious values, as well as international and humanitarian laws and norms, in addition to breaching bilateral treaties and the principles of good neighbourliness. Such actions deliberately target civilians and civilian sites and spread fear among innocent people during this holy month.”
Dr. Al-Issa further praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the affected Arab states for their “wise handling” of the dangerous escalation, highlighting their commitment to protecting their territories and citizens, preserving regional security and stability, and preventing the expansion of war.
The condemnation comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf following Iranian missile and drone strikes on several Arab states. The MWL, a global Islamic organisation headquartered in Makkah with members from across the Muslim world, called on all parties to uphold principles of good neighbourliness and international law.
The full statement has been circulated widely on social media, drawing both support and criticism from users across the region.
