WASHINGTON D.C, February 18, 2026 — The United States Department of State has spotlighted President Donald Trump’s vision for rebuilding war-ravaged Gaza, declaring that reconstruction efforts are already “well under way” thanks to the newly established Board of Peace.
In a video statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) late Wednesday, the department quoted the Press Secretary as saying:
“President Trump has a very bold and ambitious plan envisioned to rebuild Gaza which is well under way because of the Board of Peace. This is a legitimate organization where there are tens of member countries from around the world.”
The Board of Peace (BoP), chaired by President Trump, was created as part of his 20-point Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. It received formal backing through United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025) and was officially launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026.
Member states — now numbering more than two dozen, with some reports indicating up to 35 participants — have already pledged more than US$5 billion for humanitarian aid and long-term reconstruction. They have also committed thousands of personnel to an International Stabilization Force and local police units to maintain security in the territory.
The Board’s inaugural meeting is set for Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., where the pledges will be formally announced.
Officials describe the initiative as a practical, action-oriented platform to attract investment, establish modern governance, and create economic opportunities for Gazans once the Palestinian Authority completes required reforms.
The effort builds on a ceasefire agreement reached in late 2025 between the US, Israel, and Hamas. While the Board has drawn support from several nations for its focus on rapid reconstruction, some international observers and European allies have expressed reservations about its structure, funding transparency, and expanded mandate beyond Gaza.
President Trump has repeatedly called the Board “the most consequential international body in history” and expressed pride in serving as its chairman.
Life News Agency will continue monitoring developments as the Board convenes today and as Gaza reconstruction plans move forward.
