KOTA BELUD, SABAH, MALAYSIA January 1, 2026 – Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Kadamaian State Assemblyman (ADUN) who is also Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, attended the Thanksgiving and New Year Celebration of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Kampung Gaur and Kampung Narinang on 1 January.
Ewon also distributed aid to the village communities and inspected infrastructure needs in the area.
His attendance at the SDA New Year celebration in Kg Gaur has become an annual tradition since before he became the Kadamaian representative, and it continues as a sign of support for the local community.
He expressed delight that several development needs for the church and Adventist school in the area have been successfully implemented, including the installation of 13 air-conditioning units through allocations provided last year.
“May the congregation here continue to be blessed with health, prosperity and success in their endeavours this year,” he said.
At the event, Ewon presented contributions under the Sentuhan Kasih ADUN Kadamaian programme amounting to RM5,000 to Gaur Adventist Primary School and RM2,000 to the Gaur Adventist Community to support community service activities.
He then attended a similar New Year celebration at Kg Narinang, where he presented a contribution of RM10,000 to replace the existing wooden chairs in the church with more suitable and comfortable ones.
During the same visit, Ewon inspected damage to the suspension bridge connecting Kg Narinang and Kg Botung, which requires urgent repairs.
He said that new suspension bridges using fibre materials have been constructed in Kadamaian since 2024, and allocations will be channelled to repair the bridge in Kampung Botung using safer and more durable materials.
In addition, Ewon visited the family of Jumah in Kg Bundu Paka to offer condolences on the recent passing of their beloved mother and prayed for strength for the family in facing their loss.
These activities reflect Ewon Benedick’s commitment to community development and infrastructure in the Kadamaian area, in line with the ongoing Kadamaian Development Master Plan.
