MEROTAI, SABAH, MALAYSIA November 20, 2025 – Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, has concluded the first round of his campaign tour in Sabah with a cordial meeting with community leaders in Merotai, Tawau. The programme, held in the N.72 Merotai constituency, was attended by prominent local leaders including Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, Datuk Hajjah Hamisa Samat, Cikgu Jai Moni, Village Heads, Native Chiefs, and other local leaders.
During the gathering, Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah and Datuk Hajjah Hamisa – both former Merotai State Assemblymen – as well as Cikgu Jai, who is the Merotai Division Chief of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), openly declared their support for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the seat, Datuk Ruji Hj Ubi.
“I truly appreciate the presence and support extended by Tan Sri Liew, Datuk Hajjah Hamisa, and Cikgu Jai. This is a tremendous boost of morale for our entire campaign machinery,” Saifuddin Nasution said in a statement issued after the event.
The PKR Secretary-General described Merotai as one of the key “hot seats” that Pakatan Harapan is confident of winning in the upcoming Sabah state election.
“N.72 Merotai is among the constituencies we are optimistic can deliver an important victory for Pakatan Harapan, alongside other seats we are contesting,” he emphasised.
Saifuddin also stressed PH’s commitment to prioritising public service and comprehensive development in Merotai if given the mandate.
“God willing, with unity of effort, the priority we place on serving the people, and our determination to develop Merotai, I am confident victory will be on our side,” he said with full conviction.
The Merotai session marks the conclusion of Saifuddin Nasution’s first-round campaign tour in Sabah, which also covered several other areas in the state. He is expected to continue campaigning in other locations in the coming days leading up to polling day.
