SELANGOR, MALAYSIA February 14, 2026 – The Malaysian Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia, JIM) detained 51 foreign nationals during an enforcement operation codenamed Ops Selera in a busy commercial hotspot in Sungai Long (Sg Long), Kajang, Selangor, on the evening of February 13, 2026.
The operation commenced at 6:00 PM, with immigration officers screening a total of 463 individuals—comprising 225 foreign nationals and 238 locals. The 51 detainees, all men aged between 21 and 36 years old, were arrested for various immigration violations. These included:
– Possessing no valid travel documents
– Overstaying their permitted period in Malaysia
– Misusing passes or work permits
– Working in business premises despite holding permits designated for other sectors, thereby breaching permit conditions
Some individuals attempted to flee upon noticing the enforcement team’s arrival. Officers effectively countered these escape attempts by deploying drone technology to track and monitor movements.
All those detained have been transported to an Immigration Detention Depot for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
This raid forms part of JIM’s intensified efforts to curb illegal immigration. Authorities have emphasized that enforcement operations will continue and even increase during the upcoming Ramadan month, with particular focus on high-risk areas such as Ramadan bazaars to ensure compliance and prevent exploitation.
JIM has issued a strong reminder to employers: hiring or harboring undocumented migrants is strictly prohibited, and violators will face stern action under Malaysian law. The public is encouraged to report any information regarding the presence of illegal immigrants through official JIM channels for prompt follow-up.
The department reiterated its commitment to ongoing enforcement to maintain national security and immigration integrity.
